Safety is first despite the industry, there’s no debate, nothing more important than safety. Parrish & Sons Construction promotes safety in a top-down approach as an organizational culture that places a high level of importance on safety beliefs, values and attitudes. Our work force is highly trained to accomplish their tasks with a safety-first mindset. Everyone is a competent person, if they see something proactive steps are taken. This remains our fundament approach and most important aspect of our safety procedures —not reacting.

Expectations…

Our superintendents are OSHA 30 certified, all members of our team have OSHA 10 training as a minimum, with on-going required continuing education credits, training programs conducted on a regular basis. With well over 1500 current certifications completed at Parrish & Sons Construction, our team exceeds the necessary certifications and training as required by industry for scopes performed. “I AM SAFETY!”

Tracking…

Parrish & Sons Construction monitors safety performance with the assistance of HCSS Safety, an incredibly useful software program for tracking safety and training issues. The program includes:

• Safe Action Plan Template: COVID-19
• Daily productive safety meetings
• Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) database and templates
• Standards for inspections
• Skillset and certification tracking
• Digital reporting of incidents in real time
• Custom reporting and trend analysis

Leadership… “I AM SAFETY!”

Our founder, Fahteema Parrish, is OSHA30 certified and directly responsible for the implementation of Parrish & Sons Construction’s safety and health program. Fahteema develops site-specific plans for each project, which supplement any requirements requested by the client. Our safety strategist visit our sites multiple times each week as a valuable resource for our project teams.

Retrospect is one of Fahteema’s primary responsibilities, she reviews and schedules all safety meetings, tracks the status of staff certifications and skills, and regularly audits the safety performance of Parrish & Sons Construction (and its subcontractors) on each project.  Lessons learned from the retrospect become action items implemented on the next project as each time a service is done again, its done better!

Results…

Parrish & Sons Construction’s Experience Modification Rate (EMR) are consistently lower than other comparable contractors at the regional and national level. This is clear attestation of the benefits executing our approach to safety both internally within the Parrish & Sons Construction, and to the clients we serve. “I AM SAFETY!”
